WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Has America's spending on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars been justified by the results so far? Prior to the US invasions of Iraq, officials in the Bush administration estimated that the war would be between $100 and $200 billion.

After watching Sicko in a University Lecture it just proves to me how disgusting the health care system is in America. They need to take care of their citizens first before sending their innocent troops to war to fight a battle that just ends up in bloodshed and more innocent lives lost.

May I recommennd an excellent Movie by Michael Moore, "Sicko" which exposes the disgusting evil behind the American health system. This movie also highlights some excellent health care provided in France, UK and Cuba!!! The US spends money on war to profit the war industry etc. Without bringing the current criminals to justice, how will they ever end the war?

Norway and Sweden spend their citizens' tax dollars on enviable health and education services; producing a healthy, educated people who are at the forefront in peace negotionations around the world. The last thing the US administration wants is a healthy, educated population; they would not be able to get away with using the poor and uneducated for cannon fodder to make the rich richer, by stealing the world's natural resourses. Will Rudd change this course? Given his government's capitulation to the powerful Zionist lobby, there doesn't seem much hope of him standing tall on this issue.

It has been estimated recently that based on the current price of oil, Iraq may harbour up to $30 trillion US Dollars of easily accessible crude beneath their soil. For US and British oil corporations such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Total and BP and their representatives in the US government, the middle-class taxpayer-funded invasion and occupation may well be worth the cost in other people's lives and money.

I think this link says it all, it breaks down the costs of the war to date. $1.4 billion in over charges by Halliburton, incredible. And no, the war was never justified. Would the US like Iran or China setting up their own bases on US soil? Of course not. We never appointed the US as the world police, they should sort out theor own issues at home, this war is sending their economy into a spiral..

I think that Naomi Wolf is insightful and her view on the deterioration of democratic rights in America is sound and reasonable. I was surprised at George's provocation and stand for making her appear radical and extremist. I love your show for being enquiring and I was disappointed in the way in which you portrayed her.

When spending that could provide food, health, education, homes and work, is spent to destroy people it is totally unjustified.

There are, of course, competing theories about the rationale behind GWB's bull-headed decision to go to war in Iraq, but there is a little-known theory that has reasonable credibility. Of course, the word 'oil' gets thrown around a lot The war was not just about getting Iraq's oil , but about keeping the US dollar as the global reserve currency (worth tens of trillions of dollars).
