STEVE FROM SYDNEY SAYS:11:00:38 AM Friday, 30th May, 2008
I'd really like to see a similar program about the connection between the local Italian mafia and government agencies and businesses.
I'm 100% sure we don't have to pay for expensive travel of a media crew to the other side of the world to shoot this story about the mafia, we have our own stories here at home.
Mr Lazares please, make another one about our Australian boys with connections to the underworld...
CARMINE FROM USA SAYS:08:11:03 PM Thursday, 22nd May, 2008
The mob is far from dead. Around 40 or so guys in this indictment are only getting 6 months to a year in prison. John D'Amico the boss arrested is getting a year and a half. Most of these guys will be back on the streets in a year or so. Besides, if you give them enough time to recover they will be back at it and those guys will be replaced.
PHIL FROM ARTARMON, SYDNEY SAYS:05:53:55 PM Saturday, 17th May, 2008
Would love to see another piece on this topic. It was the best piece i have ever seen on dateline. the Gambino Family, the sopranos, the Gotti\'s and anything involving the Mob is always going to get my attention. Cheers.
NYC JEDI KNIGHT FROM NEW YORK CITY, USA SAYS:09:23:26 AM Saturday, 17th May, 2008
If you did your homework you would find the "shockjock" Curtis Sliwa is no "crime-fighter" nor expert in the Mob. In NYC he is perceived as a shameless self-promoting huckster with a big mouth.
In this articxle by Ashley Harrel Curtis Sliwa is exposed as an headline grabber and the Guardian Angels as a rag-tag group with shady pasts despite background checks here athttp://www.browardpalmbeach.com/2007-08-02/news/wingin-it/1
ANTHONY FROM RESEDA, CA SAYS:03:43:12 PM Friday, 16th May, 2008
Yes never be broken, nobody is interested in seriously doing anything right in America, there\'s just no money in it.
Stamping out organized crime - No interest, if you take it too seriously you die
Stamping out racism - No multi-national companies like the those with the least fighting to get the most of it. Whatever that \"IT\" is.
Making the government work for the people - No, lobbyist have final say.
Its time to leave or not pay taxes, they would fear the people if we had 90% voter turnout like they do in AU.
MARK DALRYMPLE FROM SYDNEY SAYS:10:07:13 PM Wednesday, 14th May, 2008
First of all, I want to commend you on a top notch production. I watched it in its entirety last night and was mesmerized.
Great cinematography, editing and storytelling.
Why is there not much room in the TV schedule for more programs on the Italian influenced Mafia in New York ?
With Compliments.

a story with curtis as the spokesperson- his credibilty is like his dress- bad! i lived, worked at jfk for 15 years, the heart of the queens pulse, and allow me to say it, "a great place to be- all people were friendly, respectful and above all honest" -you got what you paid for, simple! and for howard beach and john gotti, try and find one person to say a bad word about him and his generosity to all people. his brother lived in valley stream- i lived there too (on long island) just over the queens border- another fabulous person and very widely respected. and then thro in something your reporter forgot to mention (on little italy) the feast of sangenero- can you find anywhere in the world that promoted love, peace, respect and giving? enough said, im a dallas fan, tuffed out many nights at giants stadium, yankees stadium and the streets as a simple batller working to get on- and if thats not the best place to "do it" ya gotta revisit the dictionary- franky said, i'll say -and john gotti said it- there aint no place like it-EVER!
WAYNE EVANS FROM SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA SAYS:09:16:09 PM Wednesday, 14th May, 2008
Wow... what a episode.
Since the days of Al Capone to John Gotti, The world has had a fascination with men of Italian descent who are involved in organised crime.
Any program that involve Italian influenced gangsters is always enjoyable and interesting. Tonights program on the New York Mafia was the best documentry i have evr seen. Well done to SBS and John Lazaredes. Fantastic and hope to see more on this subject.

from what history has told us the 'underworld' can never really be dismantled only displaced for a very short period of time. its a syndicate which can bring in millions a year, almost like big businesses, and it more or less operates legitimately from the outside, so how can they bring it down?
