I think horses should not be killed unless they are in pain.

I think the video was cool. I have never been to a horse auction before. So what happens to the horse if nobody wants it? Does it stand around and wait for the next auction to start or go back home or what?

rent? own ? come on, who cares, the point Glenda was making was that in the video Mr. Stokes was not obviously incorporated with the kill buyers when first interviewed, if you watched video then you saw it withyour own eyes. Then toward end of video he was caught on tape loading the kill horses with Mr. Haley. If you are not ashamend of what it is tht you are doing , then hold your head up high and be proud of it, don't hem ha arond and be decietful. I understood her point precisely. Dont really matter who own or rents anything..It is the KILLINg if horses we are adressing in this forum.

Guess you too are a little uninformed. Dale Haley does not own the barn in Greensburg where Audie lives. He rents it. What is streach to truth?

The auctioneer and horse dealers are a farce!! He mentioned they take the old, lame and blind horses for slaughter!! It is against the law to do this! Labeling the many Americans that want a end to this as animal activists from the city! Do your home work and you will find many in the horse industry support a ban on Horse slaughter! The American Horse Slaugter Prevention Act would weed out all the irresponsible breeders, owners and trainers. As far as the Amish, this is 2008! In PA there are many collisions involving horses with cars. Things change ! A majority of Americans want horses protected and not slaughtered. BTY,horse meat is not fit for human consumtion being many drugs have been given that would be banned in our meat animals. Many of these horses are sick these low end auctions are a cesspool of disease. Even our pet food companys do not use horse meat!

In reading your aricle; I noted you had Audie Stokes as a person selling 5 head of horses... Audie Stokes works full-time for Dale Haley the killer buyer..Audie is a killer buyer too! HE lives in a barn apartment owned by Dale in Greensburg Indiana. Perhaps it will help to know who you are talking to when you interview..... but then Audie and Dale will both streach to truth about everything.

Horse slaughter should be banned. Lets stop breeding so many for human entertainment i.e. racing. Then there won't be overpopulation. Human's are overpopulating the world but I don't hear the call to slaughter them!

Your story was wrong. Animal rights activists didn't get horse slaughter stopped. Responsible horse people who value animal welfare like myself got horse slaughter stopped in the US. I am a professional horse trainer. I work with them everyday. But I am also realistic about the horse overpopulation in the US. However, there is no argument that the slaughter methods used to kill horses in the US are methods designed for livestock of a completely different build than horses. Horses are NOT built like cows, nor are they as complacent as cows. The only way to get the slaughter companies (who are almost all foreign-owned, FYI) to consider changing their methods is to stop the $$ and ban it completely. The only way they will be able to set up shop in teh US again is to guarantee the methods of kill are appropriate for equines.
