I was born and raised on Guam...if the government of the US is going to put that many people on Guam...they will need to put money into the infrastructure of Guam and bring in more jobs to accommodate the people there as well as the military and their families. But more importantly they will need to facilitate the incorporation of the people into the native society...don't go in and be the ugly Americans all over again. I lived through that and it was not pleasant for any of us there at the time.
What a question. Of course they should, and the quicker they get out of there the better for all of them and us too.
Colonialism at its best! HOORAY for the string pullers. The war in Iraq will eventually end and then what. The USA cannot survive without wars! Have a look at how many people depend on the US war machine. The US economy depends on wars, and the oil barons who constantly tell everyone there is an oil crisis. Google 'The energy non-crisis' and get some insider facts. But, hey we are just as vulnerable, we are not as independent as we like to be are we... Yes said our Johnny, we'll come and use some more ammo too, just lead the way!!! Trouble is now they are getting too close for comfort, Hawaii was close enough!
Whilst I agree that the US should do more, the people of Guam should get off theor back sides and do more to help them selves. They owe the US heaps for it it wasn't for them they would be nothing but an underdeveloped japanese back water. The origional inhabidents would have been murdered/killed off during Japans occupation had it not been for the US.
