Being born and breed in Kuala Lumpur, the only way I see it is equal rights. No need of special treatments, as anyone born or converted muslim in Malaysia is considered privileged. Muslims need to stop claiming Islam is the only religion. This sort of believes defies and creates anger among other religion believers.

This is not a problem confined to malaysia, it is prevalent all over the world where ethnic minorities are treated bad by a governing majority. Until basic human nature changes then there is no end in sight to such treatment of minority groups. The transgressor here, i.e the Muslim majority are themselves victimised and persecuted in many western democracies because of the actions of a few on September 11, 2001. Until governments treat people on an equal footing and as individuals there will be no end in sight to this sort of treatment. The Howard government was certainly not averse to using the refugee situation to exploit xenophobic fears in the Australian electorate to win an election and while these tactics appear to work governments will continue to use them despite the undermining of the basic understanding of compassion towards other minority groups which is at a cost to the true belief that western democracies espouse
