Curfews have there place but with our people the reason what instigated the curfew would be more of a positive angle to handle these issues.HOME life should be addressed and we all know how big a issues there are to many band aid treatments out there and not much funding to take this problem head on.Mindsets, negative stereotype communities, create cultures that bred Apathy.Paternalism is a form of dictatorship.(I disagree)

kids need space and freedom to enjoy themselves, there is to much bullying of young people, the parents ,kids and community will have there own solutions to this promblem, dont use curfew , its just another form of punishment, having understanding and fun programs for kids work , \'\' i was a kid once with too many rules, now i want my freedom!!!

Has anyone consulted with the young people involved? Are the the young people's interests and future being considered in THEIR best interests? Has anyone asked them?

I think that a curfew could work if it was done properly and had the communities support. There needs to be some responsibility put on both the youth and the parents. Why do we constantly knock any ideas that Aboriginal communities come up with off their own bat?

Curfews may only increase the gap between the community and the Police.Education is not only for children.Adults have a responsibility to face up to as well!

A curfew alone will likely cause other issues for the young people and their families. However, a curfew as a part of a holistic approach to tackling the issue, developed through an all inclusive consultative process, should result in a positive outcome/s.

I think the people of Woorabinda need to develop their own answers and implement them with the backing of all residents. I would hope that intervention from outside isnt needed and that the community can move forward. Indigenous peoples have been on this land for how many years?? 40,000 and more...and we have been here for just over 200 and look at what we have done...I am ashamed...

Curfew may well be the last stand as parents will not take responsibility for their children. If it stops children drinking and abusing themselves and others it is a positive approach. However if it causes more stress and domestic violence on families who are struggling with a myraid of problems it may just cause them to over load and the whole situation becomes deeper and darker with the cycle of violence and abuse certain to continue.
