As always, there is an array of talent out there and this year is no exception, just some names to watch out for are of course our Deadly Olympians, like discus thrower Benn Harradine, Socceroo Jade North and basketballer Patrick Mills who are all up for Male Sportsperson of the Year.

And our female Olympians have done us proud too. Up for the Female Sportsperson Award is basketballer, Rohanee Cox and softball player, Stacey Porter along with Paralympian Tahlia Rotumah who’s been nominated for Most Promising New Talent in Sport.

In music, the amazingly talented Gurrumul Yunupingu has scored three Deadly nominations for Single, Album and Artist of the Year, this along with his four ARIA nominations….what a great year he’s having!!

And let’s not forget, SBS has scored Deadly nominations with Logie Award winning Tammy Clarkson and Aaron Pederson of The Circuit and Aaron Fa’aoso of East West 101, all being nominated for Actor of the Year. What a fantastic line up of talent!

2008 is a year marking some milestones in the history of this country. This years Deadlys will feature tributes to the 25th Anniversary of the NSW Land Rights Act and for those sports fans out there, we’ll also celebrate 150 years of AFL and the 100th Anniversary of NRL.

And of course to top it all off, there will be fantastic performances by Ursula Yovich, Jimmy Little, Gurrumul Yunupingu and Jessica Mauboy.
