Is World Youth Day relevant for Australians?
Legitimate religious celebration or a waste of taxpayers money? Are you happy to host the Pope and 200,000 Catholic pilgrims?
STEPHEN BOX FROM PERTH, AUSTRALIA SAYS:01:46:03 AM Friday, 15th August, 2008
Please keep your reports relevant to the event... SBS reporters dribbling on about Gay rights is very boring... it has nothing to do with this event... I think thats why the Gay community have their parade is it not???
PETE FROM CARNARVON SAYS:10:48:03 PM Sunday, 10th August, 2008
I was in Tennant Creek when 3 bus loads of young Italian pilgrims stayed overnight at my motel on their way from Darwin to Sydney to see the pope. On the local radio news it said, "approx 70 people turned out to see the pope land at Darwin airport, and around 2 thousand were at the beer-can regatta". I would construe from that info that less than 1 bus load of pilgrims went to Darwin airport to see the pope, and the other 2 bus loads went to the beer-can regatta! You gotta laugh!
FRAN FROM KEMPSEY SAYS:01:37:42 PM Saturday, 9th August, 2008
Please replay Opening Ceremony.
If it was so wonderful surely it should be seen by more people especially families and older people who could not/did not record it and all those people who had gone to bed.
MAHIR MURAD FROM IRAQ SAYS:06:24:19 PM Saturday, 26th July, 2008
i think the WYD event was wonderful it was an experience of a life time i thing its beautiful to see how many young people wore all in one place prasing and worshipping with no trouble and no-one starting fights or getting drunk i think we should have more events like these so we can show the world that young people are full of hope and spirit rather people thinking were useless people who just go out partying..
thank you and GOd bless you all
JACK FROM IRELAND/SYDNEY SAYS:03:10:44 PM Friday, 25th July, 2008
It has all done so well, my friends in Sydney say the streets were a buzzing, whether you are a Catholic or not the youth of the world were infectious with enthusiasm. ! \"Outstanding\"
PAUL ROBERTS FROM 9E39C SAYS:08:21:37 PM Monday, 21st July, 2008
Hats off to SBS for the excellent translation of the German documentary on the Pope which was aired on Sun at 8.30pm. It is difficult to obtain a precise rendering on a German theologian\'s statements and I think the SBS tean did an fine job.
JACINTA FROM WESTERN AUSTRALIA SAYS:07:44:02 PM Monday, 21st July, 2008
To see the multitude of mostly young people from all over the world behave in such a joyous and peaceful manner has renewed my faith in youth of today. The youth of today are often portrayed by the media as drunken drugged losers - this event has showed the world that it is not so. If they can be proud and unashamed to follow Christ; to join their hands and bow their heads in prayer on national television, we can learn a lot from that. Thank you Pope Benedict, the pilgrims, the organisers of WYD, and SBS for an event we will never forget. God Bless.
MAGGIE FROM BRISBANE SAYS:06:55:49 PM Monday, 21st July, 2008
Thank you to SBS and to the superior images; closeups of individuals were most skilful. The Stations of The Cross were conveyed well despite difficulties one can imagine. Of course WYD is relevant, but dollars are not the criteria. You have made up for the departure of our beloved Mary K.

If you're a Catholic, then it's relevant. A lof of people here are not, and couldn't be bothered by all the hype of past week.
