Mapping China's earthquake zone

Up to 50,000 people are feared to have died in the devastating earthquake that hit China's Sichuan province on Monday.
Some of the hardest hit places are as follows:
Chengdu
* Almost 960 are reported to have died in the provincial capital.
Mianzhu
* Up to 3,000 people reported dead.
* Almost 5,000 remained buried, but about 500 were pulled out alive from destroyed buildings and rubble
Mianyang
* Almost 7,400 reported dead with over 18,500 thought to be still trapped under rubble.
* The Jiuzhou gymnasium has been used as a refuge for up to 10,000 people after their homes were destroyed.
Shifang
* Reports reveal up to 600 are dead and at least 2,300 buried.
* Among the destruction were two chemical plants - releasing a huge toxic cloud.
Dujiangyan
* One of the closest cities to the epicentre (approximately 40-50km)
* Earlier this week up to 2,000 troops were sent to the Zipingku dam, above Dujiangyan over fears for its stability.
* Over 1,000 staff and students are still trapped in Juyuan Middle School - only one girl has been rescued.
Yingxiu
* Death toll stands at 7,700 of a population of 10,000.
* Reports reveal almost half of the survivors are suffering serious injuries.
* Soldiers have been sent to the region by helicopter and boat.
Deyang
* Reports reveal up to 2,600 are dead with hundreds still buried in rubble and debris.
* Most of the casualties were school children.
