GREENS CALL FOR EUTHANASIA VOTE
Wednesday, 17 September, 2008RELATED CONTENT
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Should euthanasia be legalised? The Greens are calling for the territories to be given the right to allow euthanasia. Should the right-to-die be legalised?

First [1][2][3][4] LastThose who of their own choice, leave life tend to do so on the day of their birth. Those who in hospital whishing their life to end, leave life the day before their day of birth while those who have no need to be here anymore and are taken out of life, tend to do so four days before their day of birth. We do not control life, life controls us, our roll is to live as best we can in the time that the Universe alloted to us on the day of birth of all those born on that same day. Someone ill and with a lowering selfesteem will not die in an accident or anyother form, so if their spirit needs to move on, they will feel a desire to leave physical life. However one should be happy at death, the body that is happy at death will release a happy spirit, not a sad one. As for suicides, there are many who left of their own choice who are non return spirits, so who then are we to control lifes laws. having said that though, life is meant to be lived without a feeling of "Oh this is to hard, I want out." That is not the reason to be seen as legalised ending of ones life.
I cant believe that we are still trying to block legalized euthanasia, Humans Just cant seem to grasp the concept of free will. We don’t regulate who comes in to this world so how dare anyone tell me I cant leave it……. How Dare anyone tell me what to do with my own life.
would you kill a mans best friend, (dog incase you fail to reliase boby) well is another human a mans true friend. why kill when you can spare, why hurt when you can help, why murder when you can leave. vote against euthanasia, vote NO! thankyou friends
bob, bob, bob, i dont know what to say. i am terribly astonished and disgusted at this lack of confidence towards the australian citizens, and worst of all you want to get parliament supporting you. this is outragous, and like others have said, go find yourself a better thing to do like rotate the tyres in your vechile.
I think it should. But there has to be a clear way to register or nominate for this to be done. Do NOT involve religion into this debate! If I am in so much pain that I want to end my life, it is my choice to do so! Even if that means that some people believe I will go to hell. Remember people, even God gave us free will!
I just hope, Ms Curran, that you never find yourself ravaged and debilitated by a terminal illness. You might just decide you don't enjoy being in excruciating pain, watching your body deteriorate and worst of all, unable to end it because of our outmoded laws. Clearly you are unable to differentiate between "Hitler-likened', selective form of genocide" (in which people had no choice) and the individual's right to end his/her own unbearable suffering. No-one is going to commit 'genocide', Ms Curran, or force you to end your life if this new bill is passed, but it will give others (who think differently from you) the option and the right to choose.
I have no confidence in Mr. Browns application, to the Australian Parliament, to alter the existing Laws regarding 'Euthanasia' as I do not believe, he is acting in the 'best interests' of all Australians. I have written to Mr. Brown and provide for you an 'excerpt' as follows: "I think any relaxation or alteration of existing laws to legalise 'murder', would incriminate us all, as accomplices. I think Mr. Brown, you should reflect on your own self values, before asking an entire Continent, to be part of your own, 'diabolical plan', to introduce, yet another 'Hitler-likened', selective form of genocide, of a distinctly vulnerable and disadvantaged proportion, of our Society".
If you agree with Bob Brown, click "I agree". if you dont agree click "I disagree". we will then see what the majority of Australia will say.
I think the "Greens" are crazy altogether. Bob Brown, do yourself a favour and 'argue' about something else, like how many mls of water you get per bottle. Dont urge Kevin Rudd to back a conscience vote on euthanasia because im sure he has enough problems on his hands, like 'interest rates' and rising fuel prices.
The passion of the comments left so far highlights one thing only- this is a PERSONAL issue. People's personal views will never be fully reconciled on topics such as euthanasia or abortion, because they are issues that strike us all so close to home. As such, how can we legislate for or against, when any such law either way would be contradictory to the moral opinions of so many in society? Since this is a PERSONAL issue, I believe euthanasia for those who genuinely wish to die should be allowed to. If you don't agree, that's fine, but you can make that decision if it affects YOU- not on behalf of anyone else.
